Wondering what to do after Christmas tourism season winds down? Or perhaps you are totally new in the tourism business? The Tourism ABC training is aimed at everyone interested in the tourism industry and working in it. You may be at the beginning of your professional career in tourism or even an experienced professional in another field who is interested in trying out what working in tourism could offer you. Please notice that this training is only for those living in the EU and Schengen area, preferably in Finland due to the short-term of the training. Applications outside the EU and Schengen area will not be processed.

Koulutuksen tavoite

During the training, you will learn about the tourism industry, its basic concepts and tasks, and how to consider sustainability and customer safety as part of your work in tourism. You will get to know different tourism-related jobs and customer profiles, as well as tourism operators in the region. You will familiarize yourself with tourism servicescape in Lapland and how to design a holistic tourism experience combining local nature, history and culture. The student will learn how to perform customer service tasks in a tourism company.

Toteutussuunnitelma

The training combines practical exercises, lectures and networking with other students and tourism industry professionals. The training is a multiform learning course and includes four contact days in addition to the online learning. The contact days will take place in Rovaniemi. The online learning will be carried out using the Teams and Moodle platforms.

Training schedule:

  • 14.1. from 8:15 to 16:00 – Contact Day in Rovaniemi
  • 29.1. from 15:00 to 18:00 – Microsoft Teams online teaching
  • 13.2. from 8:15 to 16:00 – Contact Day in Rovaniemi
  • 26.2. from 15:00 to 18:00 – Microsoft Teams online teaching
  • 10.3. from 8:15 to 16:00 – Contact Day in Rovaniemi
  • 12.3. from 8:15 to 16:00 – Contact Day in Rovaniemi
  • Additional individual days can be arranged as needed

Tourism ABC 10 competence points is a local vocational qualification unit, which can be incorporated in the vocational qualifications in tourism, restaurant and catering as well as nature and environment. The training is organized in English and is free of charge.

Hakeutuminen

The students will be selected based on the application and interview. We will send a separate invitation to the interview for the applicants who fulfill the application requirements. Interviews can only be done on-site in Rovaniemi. There are two interview days planned, and the applicant can decide which one they prefer: 17.12.2024 OR 8.1.2025.

The students need to have good skills both written and oral in English language. Please notice that this training is only for those living in the EU and Schengen area, preferably in Finland due to the short-term of the training. Applications outside the EU and Schengen area will not be processed.
